We've Got Answers.
Some questions we hear a lot. So much so that we decided to provide some answers.
What is Redpoint?
Is Redpoint part of the University of Alabama?
Redpoint is a privately owned and professionally managed community. Click here for more information about the management and ownership.
Can I live with friends, or can you match me with roommates?
You can select your roommate(s), or you can apply on your own and we can match you with other students. Applicants answer a short list of lifestyle questions to help in the matching process.
What are per-person contracts?
Instead of requiring all roommates to sign a joint lease, each person at Redpoint has their own individual contract, with one person per bedroom. This means you are only responsible for paying for yourself — not your roommates. Even if a roommate moves out or other bedrooms in your apartment are empty, you only pay the rate for your bedroom. Click here to view a sample agreement.
What is included in the rate?
Each resident at Redpoint pays a flat rate that includes:
- Furnishings
- In-unit washer and dryer
- High-speed internet
- Water/sewer, and trash disposal
- Community amenities – pools, fitness center, etc.
Are the apartments furnished?
Yes. To see a sample of the furniture and other finishes, please visit our model residences.
When do the contracts start and end?
The standard term is August 12, 2023 to July 20, 2024, with payments made in 12 equal installments. Limited alternate dates may be available; please inquire with our staff. Click here to see a sample Housing Agreement.
Is a co-signer or financial guaranty required?
Within 7 days after a Housing Agreement is signed, each resident is required to do one of two things: provide a qualifying guarantor (often a parent), or pre-pay the final 1 installment.
Can I pay by credit card?
Yes. Residents can pay online 24 hours per day, by credit card or ACH electronic checking. Redpoint also offers automatic payment by either credit card or checking account — just fill out one page, one time and payments will be made automatically. Convenience fees apply for credit card and debit card payments.
Will my financial aid cover charges at Redpoint?
Your living costs at Redpoint can be covered by financial aid, just like on-campus housing. Any available financial aid funds, after university charges are satisfied, are released to the student for non-institutional expenses, such as off-campus housing. These funds can be used to pay charges at Redpoint. Normal payment deadlines will continue to apply.
Is Redpoint open to non-students?
Redpoint Tuscaloosa is designed and offered for students at the University of Alabama and other local colleges and universities. The per-person contracts and shared apartments are also designed with students in mind. Therefore, applications are accepted only from students at the University of Alabama or another nearby college or university. Nonetheless, Redpoint Tuscaloosa is an Equal Opportunity housing provider and welcomes student residents with children, with adjusted occupancy limits.
What kind of safety and security are provided?
Redpoint offers electronic controlled access to each home, plus locking bedroom doors. Each residence offers a security system; optional monitoring can be arranged by residents. A community courtesy officer is on-site at all times, plus additional security patrols are provided at select times. Management staff are also on-site 24×7 and can be reached by a 24-hour phone number.
What are the policies on pets, smoking and guests?
Redpoint is pet-friendly, subject to limits on animals and breed. The community is smoke-free in all indoor areas. Guests are welcome at all times, subject to the consent of roommates and security considerations. Overnight guests are welcome, with limits on the number of days and guests.
Can I park my vehicle at Redpoint?
Redpoint offers ample parking for residents. Limited guest parking is also available – please inquire.
What other transportation options will I have?
The Crimson Ride shuttle bus makes two stops inside the Redpoint community every 30 minutes, between 7am and 9pm on weekdays when school is in session, running to the University of Alabama transit hub.
Can I see a model apartment?
